why why why why why ?

On Ostara I did a very simple ritual. I got up at before dawn and laid out all the parts for my wreath and smudged them and left the incense burning. At dawn I lit a candle for spring, cast a circle, welcomed the Elementals, said hello to a goddess or three, told Eostre that I was making the wreath and dedicating it to her as a thanks for the coming spring. The wreath practically strung itself together, I dropped the circle, thanked everyone for coming and hung the wreath on the wall.
I was so full of energy I was humming all day.
It feels SO good to do that.

So WHY have I not done another ritual all week? Why do I tell myself every evening that I am too tired and will do one in the morning and in the morning why do I tell myself that I am too rushed and will do one in the evening?

Why do we avoid doing things that make us feel good and are good for us???
I say "we" because I know darn good and well that I am not the only one.

  1. no, your not thats for sure.
i try to put ritual into small things, so that i do a bit each day.
ritualising washing the dishes sounds wierd i know but, just by having a goddess on the sill above the sink, turns it into 10 minutes of conection time.
I am so blessed to ahve my own room set up for ritual, so that when i need to do something sturictured or just be in circle, i can usually just need to light a candle........
glad ostara touched your heart.mabon touched mine xxx

  2. No, you're not the only one. I know that meditation is so good for me, but I keep putting it off for something else. All we can do is keep trying.

  3. LOL! Oh no, you aren't the only one. I think it is because we let the mundanities (made up word?) of life and work get on top of us and forget to do what our soul needs us to do!

  4. I agree with the others, you're not alone. It's like working out. Makes you feel great, but you just 'don't feel like it' sometimes. I've found that simplicity is best when you just don't want to do anything.

Or maybe you're overdoing the rituals? *shrug* I used to overfocus on the 'spiritual' side of myself instead of trying for a more balanced lifestyle. Maybe you need to shoot the breeze a bit. Try a different kind of ritual, something less structured? Eh, just an idea! :)

    Peace be and blessings.

  5. Nope definitely not alone, I am just as guilty as the rest of you! (It somehow makes me feel better to know I'm not alone!)

I like your idea Greymentality, to make the ritual simpler, a little less structured. It can seem like too much hard work otherwise!

Definitely agree with HibiscusMoon too, I so need the meditation, works wonders for calming me down the whole day and calms my temper down to almost nothing. I need to do it if not for my own sanity, but for those poor souls who have to live with me! :)

  6. yeap, same here...I am STILL putting off everything, eventhough now I have put aside the evening again for myself only. I do have the time, but I just dont feel like it. I keep telling myself that I am too tired and need to let my brain relax by watching meaningless TV reality shows....go figure..lol
