do I get any say in this?

I am Celtic by blood. I have always felt a deep connection to Celtic history, before I identified as pagan. I follow the Wheel of the Year, the Sabbats and Esbats. I feel at home in Celtic legend and myth and history.
So.......
I love the tales of Epona especially in her connection to the horse, I make offerings to her, I am a professional equestrian, I train horses, coach riders and have named and dedicated a horse related business to Epona.
She does not speak to me. I think she listens, I don't feel shut out, but she does not speak to me in any way that I am aware of.

On the other hand, I have had nothing to do with the Egyptian pantheon, except for some research for the Full Moons and Black Cats blog.
And yet Bast seems to make herself right at home here and has arranged things to have herself figure prominently in my life and in my rituals and meditations.

Half of me wants to laugh because this is so totally out of my control and the other half wants to stand with hands on hips..."hey!! what about me?!?"

  1. I know what you mean. I really relate to the Celtic pantheon, but I've also found myself involved with an Egyptian goddess and two Indian deities. I don't ever mix pantheons in practice, but trying to ignore one, just because it's not my 'chosen' path isn't possible for me. The more I ignored Kali - the more she got in my face. You do not want to tick this girl off! So what do you do?

  2. We do not choose which Goddess calls us as Her own. She chooses us, as you have found. My only suggestion is -- get a cat (if you don't already have one) so that you may perform daily devotions to Her representative on earth! LOL!

  3. I feel fortunate that my goddess and I mutually picked each other (at least that's what I tell myself). Of course over time I've also been targeted by Apollo and Kali, too. I completely agree that we get picked and not the other way around.

  4. She calls us. Her face she shows us is the one that will move us along the most. At least, that's how it has seemed to me. Ma'at is the Goddess for me. Lately Tara seems to be whispering. And Quan Yin makes me feel safe. But, as to my life, it's Ma'at who is the truth for me.
